Smarties and Antique Blue Mason Jars
I have a nice collection of the old blue jars with lids and use them to hold many things.
Some of my many buttons, keys and ribbons have found a home in these wonderful old jars. But the first thing I ever put in one was a bag of Smarties!
I love those tiny little candies...kind of sweet, sour and fruity! They have been around for as long as I can remember. As a kid I can remember going into the Kress Department Store and practically running....fast walk...if we were caught running in a store we might as well stayed home or in the car because we were not getting anything at that point.
I loved the old hardwood floors and old cabinets filled with candy and toys. While mom did her shopping my sister and I would ooh and ah over everything...pointing to this and that...saying I want this...I want that. I didn't always leave with everything I wanted, but I did leave with my own little brown bag of Smarties.
My kids grew up with Smarties in my Great Grandmothers candy bowl I had inherited and still today when I send them goodies boxes to college....it always has Smarties scattered about the other goodies.
Steve has been working out of town a lot lately and he is my backup when I am working on the websites and as you know I have run into some coding problems lately while building the MMCA Marketplace. He came home a few night ago around 11 carrying a bag from Cracker Barrel, a frequent stop when he is on the road. Usually he picks up a box or two of their Westminster Crackers by Olde Cape Cod. I also have a weakness for those crispy crackers. Knowing I was getting very frustrated with how things were moving along he thought I needed some of my favorite crackers and to my surprise not only were there crackers in the bag....I found two Giant Rolls of Smarties....he thought I could use them....the little ones were just not getting it for me right now!
So do Smarties make you smarter? No not according to the company, but you are smart for eating them. Now to me that's just their opinion....I feel so much smarter when enjoying a package while working....whether it is on the computer, creating art or cleaning the house. The childhood memories of buying them, playing games with the tiny pieces and eating them one at a time is priceless!
