Ties That Bind
I was recently invited to join in a very special collaborative art project for charity: Ties That Bind was created specifically to raise funds for a serious threat to women, ovarian cancer. This project is a way to support the fight against this disease with our own creativity. The large art doll project consists of artists embellishing/altering men's dress ties for the dolls skirt or creating hand made charms for her upper torso. Yours truly will be working on a tie....something totally new for me!
When I received my invitation to participate little did the girls know that I had been affected by this disease several years ago. Being asked to join was an honor for me. I am thankful that back in 1999, I had a wonderful physician that caught this in the very early stages and following several surgeries, treatments and a complete hysterectomy he was able to remove all signs of cancer.
At the beginning of 2009 the doll will be released for publication and promotion purposes. September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and in September 2009 the doll will be auctioned or a drawing held (details later on this) with all donations going to Ovarian Cancer Research.
Thank you Aileen and Kris for the invitation. If you would like to know more about the project visit the Ties That Bind blog.

Nice to see that you are involved in a fundraiser as well. I am trying to get awareness going for an Ebay auction in October to benefit the people of Darfur. While wondering how I am going to pull this off, I just read this on your blog:
" You must do the thing you think you cannot do. ~ Eleanor Roosevelt"
What great words to spur one on.
Fondly,
Enzie
