Home for the Holidays

The kids flew our earlier this week and we are on our way as you read this....on our way home to Arkansas to be with our families and friends for the holidays after 17 hrs on the road. As you make the last turn towards my parents home you can see the lights.....the big old fashion red and green lights outline the house and these red bag lights will lead us up and around the drive to their home on the hill....

 

In every room you will find a gorgeous Christmas tree covered in antique and vintage ornaments that have been collected over the years, as well as several new ones for us to find and discover. Each tree is different...Santa's in the family room, In the Play Room Hand Made Angels the 5 grandkids made when they were all under the age of 5, now they are 19 to 25. Yes they still have a play room at Granna and Papa's....it is filled with legos, dolls, books and games, a tv & DVR and big boy and girl toys! Cookie Cutters in the kitchen, Airplanes in one bedroom, Dolls in another....15 trees in all! As much as I love all the trees and Mom's 300+ Santa collection my favorite part is the Nativity scene my dad made. 

   

And this is home.....atleast for the next 2+ weeks.  Christmas and New Years with all the kids, parents, siblings and their families, girlfriends & boyfriends, and friends from our many years of living in Arkansas.

 

Thank you to those that visit here, leave comments, send emails, cards and little surprises through out the year....My wish for you is to have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Handmade Papers from Thailand & More

 

I run to the post office Saturday, but didn't make it before they had closed the window...in my box was the little yellow card letting me know I had a package and for two days I have looked at that card trying to figure out what I had ordered!  Not planning to wait any longer I was there when they unlocked the window this morning and was handed a large flat box.  Still nothing came to mind....until I saw the return address.  It was from my friend Sue Minier.  Then I couldn't wait to get home and open it.  She and her husband recently went to Thailand on vacation and upon her return she told me about her trip and one of the stops she made was at a "mulberry" paper-making studio.  She had the chance to make her own paper and while there found some that had my name on it!  It is gorgeous + wonderful texture + rich color + I can't wait to use it.  Thank you Sue for thinking of me!

More good things.....

Did you see the Hallmark movie last night "Front of the Class" the story of Brad Cohen from Georgia and how Tourette Syndrome made him the teacher he never had.  I had read the book after seeing him on Oprah and was very excited Hallmark was doing the movie.  Jimmy Wolk, as well as Dominic Scott Kay who play Brad as a young boy were both outstanding and Patricia Heaton and Treat Williams never let you down in their roles.  If you want to read more about Brad, the book or the move just do a search and you will find many great reviews and articles.

Need to photograph some new art and update my database of pieces on exhibit and recently sold + respond to an in-box full of emails.

Believe

A little snippet from one of the pieces I recently finished.  Whether you Believe or not Christmas is just around the corner and you better be ready naughty or nice! 

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my parents flying in and our college kids + girlfriends and boyfriends filling our home for 7 days.  We spent time together over on the islands shopping, walking the beach, eating at our favorite places, cooking some of our family favorites, watching holiday movies and just having a good time with those that we love.  Everyone is now back at home or their college apartments and I am trying to catch up on things.

Orders need to be filled, commissions are in the final stages, updates to MMCA and the Marketplace need to be made, newsletters are ready to go out when the time is right, finishing up the news media blast outs, and a few emails and social networking to catch up on and I can start all over again.  Marketing yourself is a never ending job as those of you that beat the bushes day in and day out know!

Believe and it can be done!
