One day it was the last of April and now it is the 10th of May! Last week was busy, exciting, nerve racking, long and short! Doctor's appointments, Iron IV treatment, reaction to Iron treatment & spent 3 hrs in the ER, then drove 7 hrs to move KC out of her dorm, went to her BF's graduation, did some last minute shopping with KC before she headed to Key Largo with a group from college, and Steve & I drove home on Sunday. Following the IV treatments your bones hurt so bad as your bone marrow is trying to absorb the iron. But I survived! Now I am waiting on the Hematologist to call with how we are going to proceed in getting my iron levels built up. I thought a party was in order as I have gone from 3.4 to 7.6 over the past several months! If I ever, no when I get it to 14 or 15 where it should be, I am having a party! Updated below!
Ran to the post office today to find Susan Tuttle's newest book "Digital Expressions"....two copies. The one I ordered from BAM and the one Susan sent me for a GIVEAWAY on the MMCA Marketplace blog. I have flipped through it and can't wait to start playing. Keep an eye on the Marketplace Blog, FB and Twitter for details on how you could be the winner, as we will be giving away the gifted book soon.
For the past 22 years.....the weekend of or before my Birthday, the weekend of Mother's Day and the week between has been spent either on a baseball or softball field with 1, 2 or 3 kids playing. I would run from one field to another or sit all day and sometimes into the night at tournaments or sitting all day at a tennis court. Most of those years also included traveling to and from the activities out of town. Thirteen of those years also included a dance recital, rehearsal and dress rehearsal. And for the past 4 years it has included moving kids from college dorms back home for the summer. I would not trade any of it....but this year, after the year I have had with my health, I have decided this week is my week and I am on vacation! Any obligations or deadlines or responsibilities may wait until next week....I am just taking things as they come and will see how things go.

Right in the middle of typing this, the doctor's office called and wanted to see me. Although I had the reaction last Wednesday, we are going ahead and continue with the Iron IV's this week. However we are going back to half the dose and tons of pre-medication with 50mg Benadryl, Pepcid, Tylenol and Prednisone....as in Tues night and Wed AM and then before they start the treatment pre-med again with all of the above via IV and wait 45 min. Then start the iron with a very slow drip for an hour and a half. Then I get to spend 45 more minutes with the IV following the flush just incase I have a delayed reaction like I did last week they can shoot me with more Benadryl, Epinephrine and Steroids.
Well I said I was taking a vacation...I just didn't know at the time I would be out of it for a few days thanks to Benadryl. But if it works and my iron level goes up then I get 2 to 3 days each week for the next six weeks to vacation!
